Do you talk with your children about where their clothing comes from?  

Do they understand the benefits for the environment of choosing natural fibres?  

Our little people are very clever and probably have more capacity for these gentle talks than we often give them credit for.  They understand about the yellow bin for recycling and turning off the tap when brushing their teeth, so let's talk with them about clothing choice too.

My worst fear is that when my girls are old enough to buy their own clothing, they will be sucked into the instagram cycle of cute-young-things peddling plastic clothing with a wear-once lifespan.  I know I can't stop this

It's as simple as opening your parcel from three x four with your little person.  Explain that the dress is made from natural fibres and that at the end of its lifespan, it will break down and return to the earth.  All of the fabrics we work with are biodegradable.  This means that's with a little time, they will break when composted.  This doesn't mean they are going to breakdown while hanging in your wardrobe

This is one of the easiest fabrics to decompose, especially if it’s 100% cotton. In the right compost, the material should be gone in a week to five months.

This very fine material can decompose in as little as two weeks when it’s completely pure. You can speed up the process by cutting the fabric into small pieces.

8. SUSTAINABLE FASHION TEACHES US HOW TO LOVE OUR CLOTHES AGAIN

It is just so easy to look at a gorgeous, finished piece of clothing in a store and forget that there’s a story and lifecycle behind it. The truth is the fashion industry in general encourages us to be detached.  But being aware of all the downsides of this industry will hopefully lead to more conscious consumerism.  One that is planet & people friendly. 

We feel it's important to recognise the impacts that all collective buying habits have.  Not as an inconsequential part of our modern lifestyles that changes with every season, but as an environmental and human responsibility that will greatly affect the future of our planet.  At the end of the day, we can choose if we want to be part of the problem, or part of the solution.  and to quote Anne Lappe “Every time you spend money you cast a vote for the kind of world you want”.
