Hello + welcome!
Thank you for stopping by!
three x four is a small Australian based label dedicated to creating fun + pretty pieces for sizes 1 to 8.
But more than that, we are passionate about ethically producing small batches of well designed dresses that are crafted from natural fibres.
Cotton, linen and wool are our fabrics of choice. Not only are these fabrics beautiful to wear, easy to care for, they are all biodegradable. Which given the state of our landfill is incredibly important. Using only these quality fabrics, each item is carefully + professionally finished to ensure both beauty + durability.
We are committed to saying no to synthetics wherever possible, so you won't find anything made from nylon or polyester here.
We want your babes to love wearing our garments, so we spend a lot of time and energy in getting the fit and fabrication just right. Is the shoulder width right, does the waist sit comfortably when seated, do the straps hold their place during play, is this volume practical? Well, sometimes it's not - but everyone needs at least one twirly dress..
We also want them to be easy to care for pieces. Pieces you can wash and wear until they make it through your family and on to the next. Pieces both you and your child reach for because they're fun and functional and make them happy to wear!
Our design / production process.
All of our designs begin with a rough shape sketch and then I hand draft the base size pattern. I then sample the garment at home, testing the fit and tweaking the balance of certain elements of the piece. From this point, if I'm happy with balance of the silhouette, the sample and base size pattern are sent to our production partner in China.
After a few emails back and forwards about the fabrication, best construction methods and sizing queries, Andy works alongside our team to create a pre-production sample in my fabric of choice. They will then send that sample to me for revisions and then sign off.
Once a design is signed off and the fabric is selected, Andy and his small team work to grade the pattern out to the other sizes I wish to offer and then they begin production.
Our story so far...
The name ‘three x four’ (three by four) stems from the size of the tiny studio apartment where my partner Sam and I began our adventure together. three x four began in 2013 from that tiny studio in Elizabeth Bay and now resides at our home in Sapphire Beach on the Mid-North Coast or Australia.
I hope you enjoy our fun, pretty and functional pieces. Wear them, love them and pass them on! Please don't feel they need to be saved for special occasions. They are constructed to be worn time and time again, so enjoy them!
